From the day I opened my eyes
I see a face shine so bright
From that day on I seem so wise
A mother’s face was filled with delight.
As I grew with soft toys and barbie dolls
I see her fascinated in every way
Given the best dress like an angel fall
A mother’s heart seemed mesmerized everyday.
Teenage years reflected a confused mind
I remember her trying to be a friend
In possible ways trying to be so kind
A mother’s mind would always befriend.
One day I fell in love so divine
I see her defending my world
With strength and in adversity entwine
A mother’s ways simply twirled.
It grew my battle that was mine alone
I see her fade away in mist
She drew distance maybe she’d bemoan
A mother’s soul continued to persist.
Now I’m married and I see no grace
She still is protecting her child
But mother needs to leave her chase
Only a mother’s soul can beguile.
I am a woman just like my mother
Love was taught to be my guide
Nothing in divinity can ever smother
A mother’s child I’ll be with pride.
